Future Development

The next level of Eagle Avatar prototype would be full-size, approximately a 2 foot cube to allow it to reach table height.  It will still carry a laptop communicator, and still use the Innovation FIRST controller.  Because of the need for larger motors, two speed controllers and a 12 volt battery will be needed.  Two large drive wheels and two smaller caster wheels will be used.  Manipulator designs will be tested, to add level five abilities.   Radio control will still be used.

A fully functional Eagle Avatar will need to be able to reach a charging station on its own, to maintain power.  Eventually, when WiMax (802.16) becomes available, an Avatar robot could range much farther than 300 feet from a wireless access point.  It would need to be under remote control through the Internet interface, not an R/C transmitter. with the laptop communicator wired to the robot controller.  Faster, higher resolution video and a better microphone would be a real pluses.  Some autonomous ability would be needed for the robot, for loss of communication link situations.
